LAKE GARDA
Almost the entire eastern coast of Italy's largest ( 370 sq.km ) and undoubtedly most beautiful lake LAKE GARDA,belongs to Veneto. About 50 km, it is rather deep (346 m. ) and was created by a glacier. Its northern part is surrounded by mountains ( M.Balbo ) , its southern part by mild hills. Its climate is temperate and its flora is characteristically mediterranean , a combination which has made its banks famous and its small riviera-like towns ( Malcesine, brenzone, torri del Benaco, Bardolino, Lazise, Peschiera) highly frequented since ancient times. In the region of Peschiera and Castelnuovo del Garda there are several natural parks amongst the most famous in Europe. But this is also a region of fertile countryside and fine wine that in the past at the Castelnuovo, Sandrà and Cavalcaselle, attracted kings, merchants and cardinals. On the lake-bank such as sailing, motor boating and water-skiiing are offered. |
