Palladio looks attentively at the elegant game of light and shape of the "Basilica P alladiana". Thanks to the works of art by the great architect " Andrea Palladio", Vicenza has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. On the hills around Vicenza we can see " Villa Almerico Capra di Valmarana" named "La Rotonda". It i s the most famous and the most imitated work by Palladio. With its four identical sides, the villa slowly disloses its artistic originality to the surprised eye of the onlooker.
MAROSTICA
It's a fantastic little town, famous for her particular square, where every year, is played a human Chess Game on the square, ev ery second Friday, Saturday and Sunday of September of the even year. The story of the Chess Game dates back to 1454 when Marostica belonged to Venetian Republic. |
This event is repeated todayjust like the first time, in a framework of costumes, multi coloured banners, martial p arades, exquisite elegance. The orders are still given to characters and cast today in the dialect of the "Serenissima Republic of Venezia".
BASSANO DEL GRAPPA
Situated on the Brenta River where it widens from the hills, bassano lies by Monte Grappa and the
"Altopiano di Asiago".The elegant wooden bridge "Ponte Vecchio" ( also called Ponte degli Alpini) designed by Palladio in 1568 on the Brenta River is the most characteristic monument in the town. Destroyed more than once by the floods of the river and during the world . Bassano is renowed for its marvellous ceramics, famous all over the war world.
